Looking Back

It's Friday night. And, well, it's a lot like last Friday night. Eerily so. Finn's gone down after a full day of running PURE wild, Peou's washing down the stresses of his daily life with a couple of drinks and male bonding at Uno's, and ME? I'm here, thoughtfully contemplating this strange moment of deja vu.
*
The REAL reason for this post is to share with you a poem I found while thumbing through my writing folder during a bout of nostalgia for the ol' college days. It's actually a sonnet I wrote in 2001. It is SO humbling to look back on writing from the old me.
Enjoy this little flashback!
Look at me, love, and tell me what you see.
Behold beauty that only youth can give,
Ignore the ignorant and rampant pleas,
Be not led astray, that our love might live.
Age is like wine, isn't that what you said?
It gets better with time, 'tis not a lie.
Did not Boaz lead young Ruth to his bed?
Regard not they with disapproving eyes.
While we embrace, think not of social wrongs,
As friends with eyes of green, chide on the side.
Enjoy the pleasure that old gets from young,
Unashamed, my love I will never hide.
We will pity this world, for it has not,
An understanding for the love we've sought.
